About
MVAS
Situated
at the Crawford Educational Complex, the Multimedia and Visual
Arts School (MVAS) was created in Fall of 2004 as part of the
small school
movement in San Diego City Schools.
Funded by grants
from the Bill Gates Foundation, MVAS provides students with
a rich
learning environment that promotes collaboration between faculty,
staff, students, families, post-secondary institutions and business.
Through a community effort, students engage
in rigorous and diverse project-based learning designed to prepare
students for advanced academic and career opportunities.
MVAS includes
several unique features to help our students achieve excellence.
The advisory program supports students and the classroom curriculum.
All kinds of students of different ethnicities and ages work and
learn together to create a smooth transition between peers.
Many
classes allow students to gain college credit while still in high
school. Students will develop professional art and design skills
learning the latest media programs in their classes and succeed
with a sense of self-confidence, understanding of their contribution
to the local and global community, and the desire to be life-long
learners.
