Attendance
A parent or guardian must report all students absences by telephone
to the MVAS office as soon as possible. If a call cannot be made,
a note must be sent with the students on the day of his/her return.
Any absence not cleared within three days will be recorded as truancy.
Any absent not cleared within three days will be recorded as truancy.
It is the student’s responsibility to see that absences are
cleared.
There are no
excused absences from school. Daily attendance is expected whenever
possible and the student should make up work missed. Medical, dental,
and personal appointments should be scheduled after school hours.
Attendance Summaries
Each week you will receive an Attendance Summary from your Advisory teacher. You need to clear any period absences immediately. If an absence is due to a parent/family reason, your parent/guardian needs to contact the MVAS office either by phone or with a signed note. If an absence is for a teacher-related reason, that teacher can initial and sign off that absence on the attendance form.
Return the forms to the MVAS office by Thursday. If you have four or more uncleared absences your parent/guardian will be notified and you will be assigned Saturday school.
Change
of address and/or phone
If you change your address/phone, you must report the change to
the MVAS office as soon as possible.
Blue
Slips/Permission to leave campus
Medical and dental appointments should be scheduled after school
hours. If not possible, appointments should be made at a time when
a student does not miss a whole school day. Students unable to schedule
an appointment after school hours need to have their parent/guardian
call or send a note to the MVAS office before 8:15 am on the day
of the appointment. A blue slip will be issued to the student giving
them permission to leave school for their appointment. Please be
advised!
Tardies
and Truancies
Students need to be at school and on time every day. Students will
be held accountable for all tardies and truancies. Detention, in-school
suspension, and Saturday School will be assigned depending on the
number of infractions.
Citizenship Standards
For each progress report, the following standards will be used:
- E - 1 unexcused absense or tardy
- G - 2
- S - 3
- N - 4
- U - 5
Enrollment
