English as a Second Language 1 Course No. 1621, 1623, 1625, 1631, 1633, 1635 Grades: 9,10,11,12 Prerequisites: Teacher/counselor recommendation. Concurrent enrollment in ESL for Communication is mandatory. These courses are required of students whose English language assessment places them within the range of ESL 1-6 skill development. Listening, speaking, reading, and writing in standard academic English prepare students to succeed in bridging or regular English classes. Students will be exposed to multi-paragraph essays. Independent reading is required. |
