Being a Vegetarian

Being a vegetarian is very good thing for many reasons. Its good for the environment and it also is a way for one to be self-sufficient. Not only are you killing the living when you eat meat but it's also unhealthy.

When I was nine years old, I saw a news broadcast about some teenagers who went to a farm for a field trip. They enjoyed the trip until they went to the slaughterhouse on the farm where they watched a calf being killed. I was appalled. With the influence of my father already being a "veg-head" I became one too.

After becoming a vegetarian, I feel better physically. I am more energized. I know then that I can survive without depending on another living creature for my way of eating and life.

There is a double standard when it comes to the saying "Too much of anything is bad for you" in the sense of eating meat or being a vegetarian. If you eat too many vegetables, that's not good for your body but neither is eating too much meat.

When you eat meat, you season it with all kinds of salts and fattening oils and cook it then put artificial flavors and sauces on it. This can cause heart problems and high blood pressure.

When I don't have the correct proteins in my body from not eating meat I take a supplement. There are calcium chews, vitamins, and natural products that can help you. Soy is a very good source of proteins and vitamins; as well as orange juice and the skin of an apple, because of its antioxidants.

These are some of the reasons why I have became a vegetarian and I really hope that other people can understand what it is to be a vegetarian like me.
